Belt ColorsAs a student advances in Taekwondo, their increased knowledge and ability is symbolized by the darkness of the colors in their belts. However, more than just a representation of rank advancement, the color belt system also acknowledges individual personal growth. Personal growth that is visible both inside and outside of the dojang. Following is a list of belt colors and their meanings.
White Belt
Signifies something heavier than no belt and the readiness to change color.
Yellow Belt
Signifies the sunrise and opening to receive knowledge.
Green Belt
Signifies the spring, starting to grow and beginnings.
Blue Belt
Signifies the sky, youth and ambition.
Red Belt
Signifies the sun, it's brightness and energy, and the physical acts of the individual.
